Plamiro ships an MCP connector — the open standard for plugging AI assistants into outside data. You add Plamiro to your AI, with your account, and ask the things a parent actually asks: how's she doing in science, what's waiting on me, what's coming up next.
Your AI sees what Plamiro stores for your family — starting with the progress picture: mastery by subject, how accuracy is trending, what's waiting to be reviewed, what's coming next. It's your data, so you can simply talk to it.
You stay in charge of it. The connector is scoped to a single family, it's off until you switch it on, and rotating one token revokes it instantly.

Bring your own key
Run Plamiro on your own Anthropic key, from Parent → Settings. Your family's calls run on your Anthropic account, so the data-flow contract is one you hold directly. Anthropic today; other providers are not supported yet.
Your own model, your own machine
Point Plamiro at a local or self-hosted open-source model. Lesson content and your child's work never leave your network.
Write and edit lessons
Change the examples, wording, and difficulty — or add a brand-new lesson on whatever your kid actually cares about. If AI can teach it, you can add it.
Anything marked on the roadmap isn't built yet — we'd rather tell you straight than let you sign up expecting it. Connecting your own key does not change your subscription price today; a cheaper bring-your-own-key plan is intended and not yet built.
Why an open tutor is a better bet
You aren't locked to our model choice. AI moves fast. A sealed app ties your child's learning to whatever model the vendor picked and whatever they can afford to run. If you can supply the key, you decide what powers the tutoring.
Your data stops being the product. The most private option is the one where the data never leaves your house. That's the point of supporting local models — not a marketing promise about how carefully we store things, but an architecture where there's nothing of yours on our side to store.
The curriculum bends to your kid. Every child has the topic that finally makes it click — dinosaurs, football stats, a game they want to build. A fixed curriculum can't chase that. An editable one can.

- Can I connect an AI tutor to Claude?
- Yes. Plamiro ships an MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector, so you can add it as a custom connector in the Claude apps and ask about progress, plans, and what is next in plain language — "how is my daughter doing in science?", "what is waiting on me today?" It is your family's data, so you can talk to it in the AI you already use. The connector is opt-in, off until you enable it, scoped to your family alone, and revoked instantly by rotating its token.
- What is an MCP connector?
- MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to outside tools and data. A Plamiro MCP connector lets an AI assistant you already use read your family's learning data directly, so you can ask questions in your own chat instead of logging into another dashboard.
- Can I use my own API key with Plamiro?
- Yes, this ships today. In Parent → Settings, choose "Use your own Anthropic key" and your family's AI calls run on your Anthropic account instead of ours. Anthropic keys today; other providers are not supported yet. Two things change: who Anthropic bills, and whose contract governs the prompts. The billing matters most to a classroom — a whole class can run on one AI account, the school's, set up once, instead of thirty-five separate family subscriptions. The contract matters most to a parent who would rather hold the data-flow agreement directly than take our word for it. Two things people expect to change and do not — we still anonymize prompts before they leave, and we still write our own audit row for every call. Your Plamiro subscription price is unchanged for now; a discounted bring-your-own-key plan is something we intend to offer and have not built.

- Can I write or edit my own lessons?
- Lesson authoring for parents is on the roadmap. Today lessons are structured content maintained by us; the planned feature lets you change examples, wording, and difficulty, or add a brand-new lesson on any topic your child cares about.
- Who owns my child's learning data?
- You do, and you can act on it: chat about it through your own AI, export everything as a file in one click, or permanently delete it yourself from parent controls — no support ticket required. Plamiro does not sell children's data, does not use it for ad targeting, and does not share it with third parties beyond what is required to run the service.
